Leo sat at his desk, ready to finish his story at last. He had been working on it for many days, and today was the last chapter. He picked up his pen and began to write the final words. His teacher had asked him to review his whole story first. He needed to check for mistakes and find ways to improve it. Leo read through every page slowly. He wanted the quality of his writing to be as good as it could be.

He noticed one part felt flat, so he decided to rewrite it. He would repeat the same event, but tell it with more detail this time. Leo also picked a title for his book: "The Boy Who Never Gave Up." He liked how the words looked printed neatly at the top of the page.

That afternoon, the whole class got ready for the Book Fair. The teacher asked each student to present their story for one minute. Long tables filled the school theater, each one holding a different student's story. Some students wrote poems instead. Others made their own small magazine. Leo's story would be part of the class newspaper too, so everyone could read it.

A visitor from the local museum came to see the fair and asked to interview a few students. She wanted to know what each story meant, and what it might represent. When she reached Leo's table, he took a deep breath. He gave his speech in a clear, steady voice. He described the structure of his tale, from the very first page to the last.

The visitor smiled and gave his story a high score. She stuck a small gold star on his page, a symbol of a story well told. "This is one of my favorite stories today," she said. Leo felt a rise of pride inside him. His hard work had paid off. He felt his confidence increase with every kind word.

At the end of the day, the teacher gave every student a small treat as a reward — it was a pleasure to celebrate ten days of hard work. Leo hoped a company would publish his book one day. He felt his reading had reached a whole new level this year. The total number of new words the class had learned filled a huge poster on the wall. Leo knew he could read every single word on it.

As he packed up his bag, Leo thought about all the stories in his notebook. He was proud to have written a whole book of his own, from the first word to the last.

word = today's new words    word = review words from earlier days
